Resident Camp

Traditional Resident Camp (ages 8 – 15) YMCA Camp Alexander provides a safe and healthy overnight camping experience for boys and girls ages 8-15. Our incredible variety of activities help campers build confidence, develop skills, make new friends and have fun. A combination of personal choice activities and scheduled programming means that campers have the freedom to customize their experience. Activities including swimming, arts and crafts, court and field sports, target sports, climbing, volleyball, boating and much, much more help our skilled and responsible staff teach the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Specialized activities enhance the Camp Alexander summer camp experience and promote the YMCA Core values. These programs include Wilderness Exploration possibilities with our Adventure Team program, and Leadership Development.

RESIDENT CAMP PROGRAMS

PATHFINDERS: 8-9 Years old. This is where your child’s summer tradition begins! These sessions are geared perfectly toward the first time overnight camper. An adult staff member lives with each cabin group of Pathfinders and will lead them in all of their daily activities. Pathfinders will focus on relationship building, bonding with friends and staff, team-building and traditional camp activities such as arts and crafts, swimming, archery, canoeing, the pathfinder cookout, large group games and songs around the campfire! The Pathfinder program is a great progression point from day camp to resident camp. Tier C: $275 Tier B: $325 Tier A: $375

EXPLORERS: 10-11 Years old. Join us for traditional summer camp where campers will live, learn and discover the “Spirit of Camp Alexander” through new friendships, independence, and exploration of the outdoors. Explorers are assigned a cabin at the beginning of the session and will live with the counselor and his/her fellow campers. Mornings are spent with their cabin group and are structured to include all the fun activities camp has to offer. During the afternoons, campers are given the freedom to choose their own activities. Campers in the Explorer program will have the chance to plan their group’s activities. Highlights of the week include the low-ropes course, team-building, target sports and the all new Explorer Camp! Tier C: $275 Tier B: $325 Tier A: $375

ADVENTURE TEAM!: 12-13 year olds. This 6 day program introduces youth for the first time to the wonderful adventures of a river trip, rock climbing, and wilderness hiking. The program starts with campers getting to know each other and practicing trip specific skills in camp. The next 3 days are spent rock climbing and camping at Devil's Lake State Park and getting an adrenaline rush at Mt. Olympus Water Park for the first session of Adventure Team or paddling down the Flambeau River for the second Adventure Team Session . Are you ready for a new adventure and excitement? Sign up for our Adventure Team program to experience the thrill of the outdoors and spectacular locations! Sharpen canoeing skills, hike wilderness trails, learn how to set up tents, cook outdoors and experience low-impact, environmentally friendly camping.

TIERED PRICING PROGRAM

Choose the price you can best afford! We understand that our camp families have differing abilities to pay, so we now offering a voluntary 3-tiered pricing program to better accommodate all financial needs. This voluntary pricing program does not influence the quality of the camp experience that your child will receive. We wanted to provide the true cost of a Camp Alexander program and allow families the opportunity to decide how much they can financially contribute toward their child’s camp experience. Please consider selecting the highest tier that your family can afford. The tier that you choose is up to you! As always, financial assistance is available for families through the South Wood County YMCA’s Strong Kids Fund. Please contact the YMCA at 715-887-3240 for more information.

Tier A: Most accurately reflects the true and actual cost of YMCA Camp Alexander.

Tier B: A partially subsidized rate, but more closely reflects the actual cost of camp.

Tier C: Our historically standard program rate, which does not represent the true cost of camp. This rate is subsidized through fundraising, special events, and sustaining contributions.
